I'm a true horror fan and I thought this was a fresh take on the teen slasher genre.

I can but agree!

More generally such movies make you feel ill at ease when being alone in the countryside. Buts most of the times crimes occur in the cities, not in the outback...

But for city dwellers an isolated area, like in the plot of All The Boys Love Mandy Lane, is from the start a bit scary in itself.
